Conveyors carry the production of a mine or plant on a single line with no redundancy, so a belt failure is a production stoppage rather than a maintenance job. This course covers keeping them running. Delegates work through material characterisation and flow behaviour, chute and transfer point design where most spillage and belt damage originates, and belt selection, splicing and tracking. Drive, take up and braking arrangements are covered. Idlers, pulleys and the condition monitoring that predicts their failure follow. Dust and spillage control are addressed as both cost and safety issues. The course closes on capacity, energy consumption and belt conveyor safety including guarding and isolation.
