Blockchain Project Management

Blockchain projects fail in characteristic ways: a use case chosen for the technology rather than the problem, a consortium that cannot agree governance, a pilot that works and then has nowhere to go. This course addresses those failure modes directly. Delegates learn to test a use case before committing, to structure a proof of concept with an exit criterion rather than an open ended budget, to negotiate governance across organisations that are also competitors, and to plan the path from pilot to production that most initiatives never complete. The course also covers vendor selection, regulatory engagement and the specific estimating difficulties of work on immature technology.

Course objectives

  • Test a proposed use case before committing budget to it
  • Structure a proof of concept with defined exit criteria
  • Negotiate consortium governance between organisations that compete
  • Plan the route from pilot to production explicitly
  • Select and manage vendors on immature technology
  • Estimate and schedule work where the technology itself is a variable
  • Engage regulators early enough to matter

Who should attend

  • Project and programme managers
  • Product owners and business analysts
  • Innovation and digital transformation leads
  • Consortium and partnership managers
  • Sponsors funding distributed ledger initiatives
