Blockchain for Supply Chain Management

Provenance, traceability and multi party reconciliation are the supply chain problems most often put forward for a shared ledger, and they are genuinely difficult problems. This course examines whether and where the technology helps. Delegates cover traceability from origin to shelf, the physical to digital linkage problem that determines whether any of it means anything, multi party document exchange in trade, and the reconciliation of records between parties who do not trust each other. The course is candid about the central weakness: a ledger guarantees that a record has not been altered, not that it was true when it was written, and most provenance failures happen at that first step.
