Amine Gas Sweetening and Sulphur Recovery

Removing hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide from a gas stream, and converting the recovered sulphur compounds into a saleable solid, is a tightly coupled pair of processes where an upset in one appears immediately in the other. This course covers both. Delegates work through amine chemistry and solvent selection, absorber and regenerator operation, and the solvent management problems that dominate day to day running: foaming, degradation, heat stable salts and corrosion. Sulphur recovery follows, covering the thermal and catalytic stages, tail gas treatment and the emissions limits that govern the whole unit. The course closes on troubleshooting a unit that is off specification.
