Advanced Business Resilience

Organisational resilience is the capacity to keep operating through disruption and to recover afterwards. This course covers it as a management discipline. Delegates work through business impact analysis, the identification of critical processes and their real dependencies, continuity and recovery planning, crisis management structures and decision making under disruption, and the exercising regime that determines whether a plan works. Attention is given to the dependencies organisations consistently miss: single suppliers, key individuals, and the systems that everything else quietly relies on. The course is grounded in African operating conditions, including power interruption, connectivity loss and currency disruption.

Course objectives

  • Conduct a business impact analysis and identify critical processes
  • Map real dependencies, including the ones usually missed
  • Build continuity and recovery plans with defined recovery objectives
  • Establish a crisis management structure and decision authority
  • Exercise a plan in a way that finds its weaknesses
  • Plan for power, connectivity and currency disruption specifically
  • Review and maintain plans so they remain current
